Guilt: A Siren

Pandora's Diaries | Poem

and as I sit here,

quietly hearing the incessant ringtone,

I let guilt take over,

like it were a siren,

shouting, screaming, seeping,

into my (y)ears,

pushing me towards my fears.

and as I sit here,

the silence surrounds me,

suddenly I can hear it,

my breath, the birds and the voices,

suddenly I am lost,

falling, fading, flailing.
